Chat
Enable, start and configure direct and group chats within artwork
The chat is a direct line between users within artwork – for a quick question to scheduling or a word within the craft, without email or messenger. It does not replace notifications from the notification centre: business processes such as room requests or shift changes still run through notifications.
Enabling the chat
Open Your account via your profile picture and tick Use Artwork Chat under Preferences. The setting takes effect immediately; accounts created by invitation already have it set. People with the permission to manage staff and admins can also change it for others.
When the chat is active, a round chat button with the number of unread messages appears at the bottom right of every page. Only people with the chat enabled can be found by others in the chat.
Starting a chat
A chat with one person is named after that person. The search field Search in chats finds existing chats; the list is sorted by latest activity.
Messages
Type into Write a message and send with Enter (up to 10,000 characters). Messages arrive in real time, are stored encrypted and show read receipts; Unread marks new messages. A click outside the window closes the chat; the conversation is kept.
Managing group chats
In a group chat, every member can rename (pencil) or delete (trash can) the chat. Deleting removes the chat with all messages for all members and cannot be undone. Direct chats with one person can be neither renamed nor deleted.
Settings in the chat window
| Element | Effect |
|---|---|
| Enable Notifications / Disable Notifications (bell) | With the bell active, a short notice with name and the beginning of the text appears for every incoming message; clicking it opens the chat. Without the bell, only the number on the chat button remains. There are no email or browser notifications for the chat. |
| Change Chat position (arrows) | Chooses one of eight positions for the chat window, such as Bottom right (default) or Top left; your choice is saved. |
What the chat is for
Short arrangements that do not change anything in artwork: "Can you take over the rehearsal at 3 pm?" or "The rider has been uploaded to the project". Binding decisions – swapping a shift, releasing a room, moving an event – belong in the respective functions so they remain traceable in the history and in notifications.
